intro

extrospective? the observation of things external, the expression of things internal, the intersection of ideas and action, of faith and reason, of the public and the private, the integration of self, society, spirituality, humanity...

For some time now I've dreamt of an environment where a genuine dialogue of questions, thoughts and ideas could take place. A place where I could offer the thoughts of my everyday existence that so often remain hidden away to the table to be discussed, expanded, contrasted, critiqued, and even occasionally embraced. A place where there is freedom to express opinions and ideas and be challenged by the ideas or opinions of another. A place for well informed dialogue about things that matter both on the micro and macro levels. A place to dream, to debate, to explore and expand our worldview together. The boundary lines are intentionally broad, just about any idea is fair game so long as it is not destructive or hateful. So I invite you to post and I have great hope that as you do, you will further open my mind and soften my heart. I only pray that my every post does the same for you.

an election is coming up... in case you missed any of the uplifting political tv ads. One main topic of interest is "security." "Security" is indeed a problem for the rest of the world as well - with the exception that they Majority World would define "security" as whether or not families will have food to eat, clean water to drink, control of their own natural resources, a clean enviornment as well as the right to choose their own governments. For most of the Majority World, the U.S. right now is seen as a threat to their security. (Source International Meeting of Church Leaders August 2004)

Questions: Is "security" (as defined above) to the rest of the world, especially the Majority World tied to eoonomic justice?

What is the responsibiity of the US in regards to economic justice - if any? Is the world's superpower responsibile for being peace-makers of the world?

What is the responsibility of followers of Christ? Is this a moral issue as pertinent as the others some right-wing Christian groups bring to the table? (I welcome dialogue and opinions from those who do not follow Christ as well as those who do)

Is it imperative for leaders of all faiths around the world to work together for peace and justice in spite of different belief systems?

I have paroused some of your postings and I have a question for you. In your introduction you said you want this to be a place of conversation, however, there isn't one comment from anyone that you have actually responded too. So, how can that be a conversation?
